Huntsville Museum of Art

Home to more than 3,000 pieces of art, Huntsville Museum of Art There are seven different galleries at this museum located in Big Spring Park in downtown Huntsville. If you have children, then you will want to check out their fun art-making activities. This museum has been named as one of the Top 10 Tourists destinations in Alabama by the Alabama Tourist Board. Adults can engage with artists during Voices series that bring some of the world’s top artists in different mediums to Huntsville to discuss their work.

Theater

While Huntsville’s reputation as a research town is very strong, there are many different opportunities to act or to watch theatrical performances. The Broadway Performance League regularly brings Broadway productions to the Von Braun Center. Adults looking to put on performances of their own can audition with Theatre Huntsville and Independent Musical Productions while children can have fun learning the basics of performing arts at Fantasy Playhouse. Spaces Sculpture Trail

Thirty-nine sculptures are part of the Spaces Sculpture Trail. The sculptures were created by artists from 12 states. You can download an app allowing you to visit all the stops. Most of the sculptures are designed to reflect the city’s rich history in industry and engineering.

Orchestra

For over 60 years, Huntsville Symphony Orchestra has entertained audiences with a series of classical and pop concerts. This group was originally formed by German engineers who missed playing music from home.

Ballet

The first professional ballet company in Alabama is the Huntsville Ballet. The group performs several times annually, including a special production of the Nutcracker every holiday that is done in 1850s period clothing with historically accurate backdrops from across Huntsville.

Visual Arts

Lowe Mill is the largest privately funded arts facility in the United States. The former cotton gin houses over 200 artists spread across 148 working studios. The space also includes a community theater, performance venues and a community space where people are invited to make their own artwork.
